EEP Mekong Phase II

Funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, EEP Mekong has started its second four-year phase in November 2014 and will be running until 2018. Based on lessons learnt so far, the new phase of the programme aims to increase its impact and effectiveness by narrowing its focus on increasing and improving access of rural population to sustainable and affordable energy services and products in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The Result-Based Financing Scheme and Human Right-Based Approach are strategically integrated into the Programme and Projects implementation. EEP Mekong collaborates with government partners in five countries. EEP Mekong Regional Coordination Unit is based in Vientiane, Lao PDR. See EEP Mekong government partners.

  • Training on Concept Note Preparation for Project Developers from Vietnam

    RCU in cooperation with the EEP-Mekong programme partner, the Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency Department, General Directorate of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam, EEP Mekong Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), trained project developers from Vietnam in preparation of Concept Notes. The training programme was conducted in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 13th and 14th July 2016 respectively with the objective to support project developers from Vietnam in preparing Concept Notes of improved quality for the 6th CfP.   • EEP Mekong Regional Coordination Unit promotes the 6th Call for Proposals

    The 6th Call for Proposals (CfP6) has been announced on 30th May 2016. The CfP6 opens for funding applications from project developers in the Mekong partner countries namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as Finland. EEP Mekong Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), in close cooperation with the National Coordinators in the respective partner countries, organized information meetings to promote the CfP6 in Vietnam, Lao PDR and Myanmar. Representatives from the Embassy of Finland in Hanoi and Yangon participated in these events.   • EEP Mekong pledges about 2.4 million euros for new clean energy projects in the region

      EEP Mekong Programme supports the implementation of six new clean energy projects in the Mekong Region, with a total grant of about 2.4 million euros. The combined value of the projects is about 20.5 million euros.   After launching the Call for Proposals in July 2015, EEP Mekong Programme’s received 71 concept notes. The majority was from Vietnam (24), followed by Thailand (13), Cambodia (11), Lao PDR (10) and Myanmar (9). Four Concept Notes aimed at implementing projects at regional level.
