EEP Mekong

Funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, EEP Mekong Programme will run until 2018. The Programme aims to increase its impact and effectiveness by narrowing its focus on increasing and improving access of rural population to sustainable and affordable energy services and products in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The Result-Based Financing Scheme and Human Right-Based Approach are strategically integrated into the Programme and Projects implementation. EEP Mekong collaborates with government partners in five countries. EEP Mekong Regional Coordination Unit is locatedin Vientiane, Lao PDR. See EEP Mekong government partners.

    The CfP8 Evaluation Results Discussed at SC Meeting in Luang Prabang

    EEP Mekong Steering Committee (SC) members met to review the evaluation results of the Full Project Proposals from the 8th Call for Proposals (CfP) and the applications for funding of project preparation support (CfP-7). Furthermore, the SC meeting reviewed and discussed the progress of the EEP Mekong Programme and implementation status of the funded project.

    Case Study: Small Scale Rice Husk Gasification in Cambodia

          There are around 250 rice mills[1] in Cambodia producing rice-based products. In remote areas without access to the electricity grid, mills are usually powered by diesel generators at a very high cost of the fuel. In areas where access to electricity grid is available, the cost of electricity is much lower than in the off-gird areas, but there are still margins to reduce the energy bill by using cheaper energy sources.
